Working with us

There are currently no vacancies at BREAD.  Please see our volunteering page for other ways to get involved.

General Manager: Jo Stallard

Jo has worked with young people in the youth and community sector, in both voluntary and statutory organisations since 1995. She has worked in a variety of roles delivering and managing a range of services for young people living in Cardiff, the West Midlands and more recently Bristol. She became a nationally qualified Youth and Community Worker in 1997 and has since enjoyed working with young people in a variety of settings which include: outreach work with vulnerable young people on the city centre streets of Cardiff; Pupil Referral Units, working with young people at risk of exclusion from school; centre-based youth work, managing a busy youth club; along with managing a range of projects focusing on young people's rights and youth volunteering.

Jo grew up in east Bristol and after sixteen years away from 'home' she is pleased to be back and contributing to the delivery of high quality services for young people. She is particularly passionate about ensuring young people 'have their say' about issues they believe are important to them, and supporting them to generate the confidence they need to make sure their voices are heard and listened to.

Jo has been the manager of BREAD since April 2006. 'I discovered BREAD Youth Project as a youth work student, in the mid 90s. To now be a part of an organisation which has a long history and reputation for developing and delivering innovate, high quality work with and for young people is exciting, challenging and extremely satisfying!'

Becky enjoys travelling and trying out lots of different hobbies such as pilates and is currently part of a basketball team (no mean feat being only 4ft 11...)

Youth support worker (media): Janene Gray

Janene is passionate about tackling social issues and is driven to provide opportunities for disaffected communities.  Janene started her career in media as a young volunteer at BBC Radio Solent.  She then went on to study sound engineering and worked in a professional music studio, facilitating young offenders to produce radio documentaries.  On moving to Bristol in 2002, Janene set up her own media company, specialising in the engagement of young people in media production.  Her DVD resources are now used country-wide to tackle youth issues.  Her business won her the RBS Entrepreneur of the Year 2007 and the CRISIS Changing Lives Award 2007, and she was also runner up in the Bristol Enterprise Awards.  Janene has also worked as a college lecturer, lecturing to degree level in sound and video production.

Trainee youth support worker: Natalie Dolton

Natalie joined the BREAD team in January 2010.

Graphics and media production assistant: Simon Cross

Simon grew up in the Devon countryside where there wasn't a lot to do, so music and photography became a big part of his life.  After spending hours on end in the darkroom of his college producing pinhole camera images, Simon went on to study photomedia and design communications at Plymouth University.  Alongside his photography, Simon has always been interested in graphic design and is combining these two interests with his role at BREAD.  He joined the team in July 2010.
