SHPEP Successes
During the course of BREAD's Sexual Health Peer Education Project (SHPEP), lots of successful outcomes were delivered, such as the following highlights from an independent evaluation. This found that SHPEP:
-
Has been an innovative project that has responded to evidenced gaps in provision and identified need
-
Young people were at the core of SHPEP's work
-
Was greatly valued by the young people involved as peer educators many of the young people involved in SHPEP have gained awards in accreditation schemes, such as Youth Achievement Awards
-
Effectively provided young people with opportunities to develop their social skills and adult responsibilities
-
Delivered in excess of 40 sexual health workshops in its last two years
-
Had a place within BREAD which was more beneficial to involving young people than if placed in a more mainstream health context
-
Was cited as some young people's only meaningful alternative to risky anti-social behaviour and a 'backbone' from which to try out new positive experiences
Please note that the Sexual Health Peer Education Project (SHPEP) is not currently active. We are seeking continuation funding.
