About Juicy
In one form or another Juicy has been part of the Lawrence Weston community since 1999.
Today we have identified three major elements of youth work to develop over the next five years.
Generic youth work:
Social education work that develops positive relationships with young people and engages them through 1:1 and group work to meet the aims of BREAD, which are to develop empowered young people who:
-
make a positive contribution to their community
-
take responsibility for their health and personal development
-
celebrate their individuality and cultural identity
-
actively involve and represent young people at local, regional and national levels
-
share excellence with others
BREAD's expertise in peer education, sexual health and drugs education, and recognising and accrediting young people's achievements through the Youth Achievement Awards, will support the project.
Health work:
Structured group work that provides holistic health education work including drugs and alcohol, sex and relationships, healthy living, exercise, food and nutrition.
Youth involvement:
Structured youth work that supports young people in gaining a voice and influence with in the local community, including an elected youth forum of young people keen to improve local services for young people, which will link up with local, city wide and national structures.
Young people's progress can be summarised in the Curriculum Development Model.
